Tournaments

ROR runs tournaments across the whole game library. There are two kinds, they work differently, and which ones you see depends on where you are.

Everywhere

Coin tournaments

Entry: costs coins.
Prizes: cosmetics, items and standing on the board — nothing with real-world monetary value.
Who can enter: any account meeting the minimum age in that tournament's rules.

This is the default competitive mode and it is open in every country where ROR is available.

Selected countries

Sponsored tournaments

Entry: free. No money, no coins, nothing.
Prizes: funded by a sponsor and awarded to the winners named in that tournament's official rules.
Who can enter: entrants aged 18 and over, resident in a territory that tournament is open to.

Because prizes carry real-world value, these run only where local law allows, and only with published official rules. They are not live yet — the countries they will be offered in are listed on the availability page before the first one opens.

What is the same in both

Standings come from how you play — score, time, accuracy. Where any element of a tournament involves randomness, that tournament's official rules say exactly how it works and disclose the odds. Beyond that, every ROR tournament runs the same four steps, in order:

Announced, with the full rules

Every tournament states its game, its entry window, how winners are determined, how many there are, what they receive and when — before anyone can enter.

Entries open

You enter by playing. Coin tournaments deduct the entry cost in coins; sponsored tournaments cost nothing at all.

Entries close at the published deadline

The deadline is fixed in advance and does not move.

Results, then prizes

Standings are published, winners are notified in the app, and prizes are awarded on the published date.

The rules are the contract. Full official rules for every tournament are published in the app before entries open, and the standing rules are on the tournament rules page. JOYFUL GAMES (SMC-PRIVATE) LIMITED is the sole sponsor and operator of every ROR tournament. Apple is not a sponsor of, and is not involved in, any ROR tournament in any manner, and ROR tournaments are not sponsored, endorsed or administered by Google.

Prizes with real-world value

Where a tournament awards a prize of real-world value, three things apply on top of the normal rules:

  • Age. Entrants must be 18 or over.
  • Territory. The tournament is offered only in the countries listed in its official rules, and the app restricts entry accordingly.
  • Tax. Under section 156 of the Income Tax Ordinance 2001, tax may be required to be deducted at source on prizes given by companies, including on the fair market value of a non-cash prize. Where that applies, the amount is shown to you before you accept the prize. Tax elsewhere is your own responsibility, and we cannot give you tax advice.

Employees, officers and directors of JOYFUL GAMES (SMC-PRIVATE) LIMITED, and their immediate families and households, may enter but may not win a prize.
